UP Excursion Train?

On Friday, April 2, 2004 I happened to see a Union Pacific passenger train pulled by a "Centennial" heading eastbound on the Evanston Subdivision between Ogden, Utah and Evanston, Wyoming. Does anyone know the destination or place of origin or the purpose of it? Was it an excursion train or an inspection train? I would appreciate any information you could give.
Thank You.

Yes, I did check but I didn't find any information that told me about that train.
Thanks though.

Right now, the UP doesn't have any listed excursion trains. Since it wasn't listed on the web site, in all likely hood, it was an inspection/business train. The UP doesn't list these trains on their web site.

The 6936 and train came into Mojave on the 31st and turned on the Y for the return to Bakersifield. They made many stops over the hill and even on the Loop for inspection type walkarounds. Much speculation was made by all those watching the train, but we really do not know the reason. They were all engineer types with safety vests and seemed to inspect or look at much of the track and hill in general.
The 6936 hit close to 80 miles per hour near Monolith with the 16 car train on its way back west. It was a great sight to see. If I knew how to post pictures on this site, I would post a few.

I saw it near Sacaramento (Davis) heading west towards bay area on March 29th. It was doing about 50+ and the engine was barley working hard. It is a pretty awesome sight for a diesel. It made the two SD70Ms waiting on the siding look small by comaprison.
