Thank you Coalmine3!
My LHS, Happy Hobo Trains, is pretty good about stocking up on good railroad books. I'll check it out.
I hope that you'll be able to get that FL9! Take care and God Bless, Amigo![swg][tup]

Yes - It was one of the benefits of growing up where I did, having family who traveled, and friends who worked on the rr.
Not to mention spending formative years at Fenway Park (LOL)
BTW, if you are interested in design history, etc, of EP5s, Classic Power (I think that was the company) did a book on the EP5. M. Fratassio's new book on the New Haven's "happy times" with McGinnis has some fascinating "inside" stuff on EP5s including variant paint schemes.
Appreciate the heads up on the FL9.

Nice to read from you again. So you got to see
New Haven
action too as well as
New York Central
. I know you must have wonderful memories!
BTW: No need to "hold out!" [#dots]
Go to
www.asmodels.com
Absolute Scale Models
is offering an HO scale FL9 as well as other rare commuter passenger units. [:D][8D][;)][4:-)]
Even the trucks on the FL9's model picture are correct. Check it out! Write back and tell us what you think.
Hope that you like it! Peace out, Amigo![;)][8D][:D][8)][swg][tup]

The Jets were one of the more interesting pieces of power on the NYNH&H.
BTW, if you are not running under the wires, you can use GP9s.
Still holding out for an FL9...................probably see that available when the Red Sox win the Series(LOL)

I recently e-mailed the New Haven Railroad HIstorical and Technical Association. I asked if anyone in the society had kitbashed a
New Haven Railroad EP5
or had info on kitbashing one.
Chris from the technical group contacted me the next day. Good news is that
Brandford Hobbies
in Connecticut offers an "plastic RTR" EP5 in the McGinnis scheme and undecorated! [:D][8D]
I called and spoke to a gentleman named MIke. Currently he is in the middle of remodeling his business but stated that production should begin again in September 2004. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions. According to him, the body details, nose etc, are close the prototype. The only significant difference is the trucks as while close are not exact as they are modified PA1 trucks. They are detailed like the EP5s trucks though.
Details:
Branford Hobbies
609 Boston Post Road West Main
Branford, Connecticut 06405
Telephone (203)-488-9865 (no e-mail address)
The body sits on an Athearn PA1 chassis.
Undecorated Price: $139.99
McGinnis scheme: $199.95
Hope this is good news for you NH fans!
Hopefully now I'll have a locomotive to pull my NH commuter cars!
Peace out![:D][8D][^]
