Hi Mike,

The C&O "City"-series lightweight sleepers had a small number board on the fluted side sheets above the truck farthest from the vestibule on each side. That's where the car number was displayed, with the name on the long letter board at the center. This was the typical arrangement on the C&O P-S lightweights, even for the un-named coaches. One exception was the 1400-series coach-baggage combines, which had the number board above the truck nearest the vestibule, probably because of the baggage door at the other end.

If you're a fan of C&O passenger trains, you may be interested in the book, "Chesapeake & Ohio Streamliners: Second to None, Volume I: The Cars," by James K. Millard, and published by the C&O Historical Society (www.cohs.org).

So long,

Andy

C&O PS 10-6 Sleeper number placement

Greetings all,

Hope you are enjoying your Columbus day.  I have a question regarding decal placement.  I have a Walthers Pullmann Standard 10-6 sleeper (pan 4140) for the Chesapeake and Ohio.  The instructions state that the decal should be placed center of the car side below the windows and shows an Amtrak example.  The decals for the C&O have a name (i.e. City of St. Joseph) and two numbers 2652.  I assume the name would be centered on the car, but where exactly would the numbers go??  Thanks.
