The railroad just parked a dirty and rusted highcube box car on a siding nearby, The interior is down to rusted bare metal and walls and roof a dark color. The floor has been scuffed, scrapped, gouged and let wet so much that a dark color will do it.

See if I want to ship something nice in such a dirty car.

Don't know how common it was, But I believe some Box cars interiors were painted white (or maybe white washed in the case of wood) to reflect more light. The inside could be very dark otherwise.

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Most 40' boxcars had unpainted wood sides and floor.I wonder what color wood turns to as it ages ? grayish beige maybe.I just assembled a Proto 2K Mather boxcar, easy to assemble, looks very good. Joe

I have several Proto 2000 40' boxcar kits, and was wondering what color the interior walls and floor should be in order to paint them.

Thanks
