On the Valmont coal train we add BNSF units to the lead as the UP engines are usually stripped. No radios b/o toilets you know junk lol.

I dont mind certain UP motors but those junkers we get just make me cringe.

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

Here on Tehachapi you rarely see a BNSF unit in a UP consist.  However a single UP with 3 or 4 BNSF does happen, although it is a head turner.

UP consists are almost always pure.  Pure orange BNSF, counting both lead and helper, is rare.  Santa Fe, the rare BN, NS, CSX, KCS, KCS Mexican, CN, and even the occasional MRL show up.  I have even see lash ups that look like an eclectic modeler put all of his locos on 1 train, with only the lead being BNSF.

Not unique at all.  Or the vice-versa version either.  Especially in the 90's, easily seen in Wyoming coal trains.

UP and BNSF engines will be on the same trains, The UP and BNSF exchange engines on horsepower hours, but not as much as with the eastern roads.
