I was looking for something else and came across this so I decided to give this thread a bump.

Scroll down the left side to Wilson Auto Ramp.

Here is Ford's Michigan Truck Plant in Canton MI:

Two racks are visible.
At GM's Lordstown OH Assembly Plant they use two single track spurs and a four-track loading barn.

Either one of these would be handy for a small layout, the barn especially if you can't find a ramp.

If you can get over the Amtrak Logos splattered on the sides, there's a good shot of the ramps used on the Auto Train.

Here is one on ebay.......
Thanks, N737AA. That also explains why I was unable to find those in the Walthers catalog- I was looking for loading ramp or such, not "Distribution Facility".

Walthers made the ramps individually and as part of an automotive distribution kit. I don't remember the kit numbers, but, they are on Ebay quite often. That is where I got mine. The distribution kit comes with two ramps and a truck as well (minus the cab).

Has an incredible amount of information and photos of a loading ramp area including a track plan! highly recommended! He includes this photo but really I suggest going to the site
Dave Nelson
That's great- thanks!
I was searching around the Walthers site, having seen references elsewhere that they made one, but wasn't able to find it. Interesting, since they don't seem to remove old, out-of-stock items for a LONG while.
Since I'm expect I'll eventually have to scratchbuild it (unless I can score one of the old Walthers ramps), the more pictures, the merrier! Anyone else have any pics, esp. with anything else visable from which I can do scaling (like a person I can conveniently assume to be some average height.) There are a few pictures on other pages of that site, which show some Jaguars being loaded, but almost all are angle shots. Otherwise, I'll have to get some image-editing software, and work on squaring the shots up.
Thanks again!
Go to www.buckequipment.com/ramps/ these are the most common .
Walthers used to offer one a few years back .
Had some spare time at work, and decided to do a little Internet research. I'm eventually going to need to build (kitbash or scratchbuild) a loading ramp for auto racks (modern), and so have been looking for pictures.
Googling the following term, I'm not having much luck- a reference to a 1995 article in RMJ is about it.
"auto rack" "loading ramp"
Anyone out there have any pictures they're willing to share, articles I can look up, or even better search terms to use?
Thanks,
