Are the levers set into the frame? Where can I find a good picture so I can properly model them?
Thanks
Jeff
Both brake levers sit in slots in the fishbelly members. The cylinder lever, toward the B end and attached to the cylinder push rod, has approximately equal lengths exposed on the outside of the fishbellies, the push-rod end attached to the rod connecting to the B-end truck lever and the other connecting to the chain and attached rod that extend to the hand brake mechanism. The shorter (fulcrum) lever, toward the A, end is only slightly exposed (or not at all {*}) through the member on the opposite side from the cylinder, at which point it is attached and pivots; the other (cylinder) side of the fulcrum lever extends well through that side of the fishbelly and attaches to the brake rod connected to the A-end truck lever. The center rod connecting the levers is between the fishbelly members.
{*}On some cars, the floating lever doesn't extend through the fishbelly member opposite cylinder, and the pivot point is on a pedestal between the members.
Don't know of any on line, but there's a good picture of the AB brake layout for a fishbelly underframe in the Feb 2004 RMC (p. 85) as part of Ted Culotta's Essential Freight Cars series (CB&Q 40ft SS XM). Another is shown in the Aug 2003 RMC (p. 81), for the {*} case (SSW 40ft DS XM).
Edit: Spelling, added photo reference; but you've lost interest, right?
