Reading RR Cursader in HO
Posted by nyflyer on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 11:24 AM
I'm looking to scratch build a Reading Crusader in HO scale. Anybody know of any plans, articals, or and schematics of this engine? Also did anyone ever put out a production version of this locomotive?

Take a look at these articles:

Bowser at one time had some tooling for some of this locomotive, much of it was damaged before they acquired it. Give Lee English a call.

Actually, I believe the Crusader was Penn Line (pre-Bowser). Saw several of them at a Timonuim show recently and the dealer wanted $950 for them. I didn't see any takers. I believe that MTS did a brass version of it also, along with the cars.

somebody (Overland I think) did one in HO with the cars. There is one for sale on E bay right now but be sure to bring your checkbook!

The old Penn Line Crusader was pretty crude even by the standards of the time and I do not think it was in their catalog when Penn Line folded and was bought by Bowser. They did have parts and exploded drawings in some of the early Bowser parts catalogs. If it is selling for $950 that is pure collectors price.
