If one goes to the following site
http://books.google.com/advanced_book_search
And fills in the desired criteria and checks the "full preview" book, one will find numereous interesting old RR books free to be down loaded.
For one interested in late 1800's rolloing stock, try this search
http://books.google.com/books?q=editions:0Zhlk468Y7Kg88NV4_YiCwF&id=TM2UJlnLgl4C
For John Droege's books, try
http://books.google.com/books?as_q=&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_libcat=0&as_brr=0&lr=&as_vt=&as_auth=John+A.+Droege&as_pub=&as_sub=&as_drrb=c&as_miny=&as_maxy=&as_isbn=
Have fun
Good find. I'll be doing some downloading this evening.
Thanks

To add to this topic, have you seen the new handheld pads for reading the e-books. The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was, how "Star Trek."
This is a great addition to some of the groups that e-publish their newsletters. The PRR Technical and Historical Society has the "Keystone Modeller" available the same way (as a PDF file). I just save them to disk and read them later on the computer. It makes storage a lot easier than hard copy magazines. I have several years worth on one CD, and it's nowhere near full.
Even if they're long ones, one of these books could probably be stored on a single CD.
I raised a similar topic on another forum recently. I was hoping that someone may be able to add to the list of free publications that I had come across.
Tom has mentioned "The Keystone Modeler", but in addition I would draw your attention to the following, if you are not already aware of them.
The B & O RHS's "The B & O Modeler", The C & O HS's "C & O History", and The ACL & SAL RR's HS's "The Seaboard Coast Line Modeler".
The content of all of these publications would be worthy of inclusion in any prototype magazine that is published and marketed in the traditional manner.
Does anybody know of similar publications, I think they are "e-zines", that are issued for any other railroads?
