Metro-North opeates P32AC-DM locomotives.....12 cylinder, 3200hp, dual-mode (diesel-electric and straight electric 3rd rail) for use out of Grand Central Station in New York City.  They are similar in appearance to AMD-103's but not identical.  Amtrak has some as well.

Hello Alfadawg,

Thanks for the photo and info the loco looks nice in the New Haven scheme did thes locos replace the FL9 diesel?where are FL 9 locos now, inpreservation or in a hritage loco fleet?

We have a similar type of loco over here, the class 73 which is a straight electric 750v dc third rail and a 600 hp auxiliary motor which is very underpowered some are in mainline use and some are heritage locos.

The P32AC-DM was indeed intended as a replacement for the FL9.  Most FL9's are retired but there are occasional moves on M-N trackage with them.   Some have been preserved at museums or tourist railways.

More info on FL9 status here:

The M-N P32's are slowly getting rebuilt by GE-Erie and repainted into a new paint scheme:

Hello Alfadawg,

Thank you for the photos and links hidung away in a box of stock is a Athearn New Haven F7 which I bought in 1980 and was my first US loco and three Athearn Streamline coaches and I was taken by the Kadee couplings which after our clumsy coupling was a breath of fresh air.We still dont have knuckle couplings or working diaphragms.
