Also, the H12 didn't have the 'streamlining' on the steps that ran along the hood to the cab.
I also believe that the H12-44's headlight was in a lower position than the H10's.

Basically, horsepower. H10 had 1000 HP, while the H12 had 1200 HP. Later versions of the H-12 (after 1952) eliminated the Lowery "steam cab" rear overhang, simplifying and lowering the cost of production.
