If you decide to replace the trucks ckeck where the mounting hole is located. On the rivirossi 6 wheel truck the mounting pin is centered under the center axle. Some replacement trucks (Walthers) have the hole between the first and center axle. Also the mounting hole is !/4" and requires a new bolster. I have done it but takes extra work.
another thing is getting these kadee couplers mounted on the cars. not a job for someone with big fat finngers

thanks for that info but i have done that already. getting the old wheels out and the new in has pushed rgw frame holding the wheels out just enough so they won't stay in. it is like i get one axle on each car with just enough of a spread that they come out. the more i think about it the more the junk yard is starting to look better. the only thing is i have spent some bucks on new e-units from proto,
thanks again
Why bother to replace the entire truck when you can replace just the wheelsets? Kadee makes 36" wheels to replace those in the AHM/Rivarossi cars. You may have to shave the brakeshoes moulded onto the trucks' sideframes, in order to clear the larger prototypical-sized wheels. I use them on all of my rebuilt Rivarossi cars.

if anyone can help???
i have around 40 to 50 pass. cars that need to have the trucks replaced.some of these are 15 to 20 years old.. is it worth retrucking them or replacing the cars. all are plastic and i paid less than $10.00 each. as i look around the internet all i find is trucks in the $20 to $30 range. these cars are just shells without lighting. I am thinking this would make for a good junkyard now that i am back in the hobby after 15 yrs...
thanks a bunch
