I'm not sure where to put this info, but I thought perhaps here is the best place. I thought I would pass on to those who would be interested in putting a WWII vintage airplane on their layout as a playground item or air guard , etc. I remember playing on one of these as a child in the early to mid 60's at a city park in Lincoln, Nebr. I had just bought a Grumman F6F Hellcat for my son for Christmas. Out of curiosity, I checked the scale of the F6F and found the plan to be very close to HO scale. The best thing about the plane is that it looks nice, is fairly accurate and Cheap! It had cost me only $1.97. I bought the plane at Wal-Mart, it is made by Maisto. The prototype F6F has a span of 38' and Length of 28'9". The Maisto F6F has a span of 35'9" and length of 27'6" (for me this is close enough[:)]). I now have plans to pick up a few more to put on to my layout since I do 40's to early 60's. I'm always on the lookout for other "toys" that would fit my scale, has anyone else found others that are low priced and fit scale?
