SP-Cotton Belt Deisel paint schemes
Posted by sparkingbolt on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 5:56 AM
When did SP, SSW start to replace the "Black Widow" or other schemes on their Deisels to the "Bloody Nose", Both on road engines and switchers?
Particularly RS3s and GE 70 Tonners.
I know SSW had RS3s. Did SP? Thank you Dan

Dan--

The red-and-scarlet "bloody nose" scheme was first applied in 1958, and it became the system standard for all diesels.

The only RS3s on the system were assigned to SSW. In the 1965 system renumbering they became SSW 2800-2816. Before that time they were numbered in the SSW 300-series.
