When were they introduced?
What were their specs (like engine, horespower, etc)?
Spotting features?

6th, 7th, and 8th hits on Google look to be applicable:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_MP15DC (brief, but answers when)
http://www.gatx.com/rail/locomotive_group/mp15dc.asp (specs)
http://www.gatx.com/rail/locomotive_group/mp15ac.asp (specs)

Afraid I can't help much on spotting.

Rosters are here: http://utahrails.net/loconotes/MP15.php

Somebody give Atlas a clue, they have the MP15AC production figures for their new MP15DC model. Hope the model turns out better than their history.

Rob Sarberenyi's excellent roster has an error in total US MP15DC owned, should be 339 units. Total production of 351 is correct.

Found some of this info from Southern Pacific in Review - 1977

1. The MP15DC (first produced in 1974) were 3 feet longer then the SW-1500
2. MP15DC had 1300 gallon fuel tanks vs. 1100 gallons on the SW-1500
3. MP15AC's were first announced in 1975 with orders placed from SP (58) and Milwaukee Road (32)
4.MP15AC aside from the alternator were 15 inches longer and added an extra 100 gallons of fuel

As for spotting features, the following photos could help. In the foreground in an ex-Milwaukee unit, and the background has an ex-SP unit. Generally, it appears that the SP added the full light package and the number boards on the cab.

MP15DC has a front-mounted radiator, similar to the SW1500. A third version is the MP15T, found on CSX (ex-SBD). They have the same radiator arrangement as the MP15AC and a single fat turbo stack. See this link:
