Found some of this info from Southern Pacific in Review - 1977

1. The MP15DC (first produced in 1974) were 3 feet longer then the SW-1500
2. MP15DC had 1300 gallon fuel tanks vs. 1100 gallons on the SW-1500
3. MP15AC's were first announced in 1975 with orders placed from SP (58) and Milwaukee Road (32)
4.MP15AC aside from the alternator were 15 inches longer and added an extra 100 gallons of fuel

As for spotting features, the following photos could help. In the foreground in an ex-Milwaukee unit, and the background has an ex-SP unit. Generally, it appears that the SP added the full light package and the number boards on the cab.
