Diesel engines, what year?

I wonder if there is a webpage somewhere that tells me in a simple way what year different diesel engines was introduced? The only thing I need is the name of the engine and the year.

For example Alco S2, 19??

I don't know of any web page.For that information I use a book called "The Second Diesel Spotter Guide". S2 was April,1940. Joe

You can pick up a lo of into at The Diesel Shop at: http://www.thedieselshop.us/ but it won;t be as explicit as you are asking. The book would be better in that regard. At a quick glance at their railroad lists, They have the Alco S-2 being delivered in 1942, but that is to individual railroads.

Get the book for a better reference. I have it.

electrolove try the model railroader magazine index they had a couple of articles on both prototype and models and when the protoype was manufactured
