The black rectangular box of info on freight cars since the 1970s isn't being applied on new cars.  Has anyone noticed this and know the reason why?  Thanks!

 MY personal take on it is that the Umler System carries a database of car information making the stencil redundant.

Every car has an RFID device that can supply all necessary data (and then some!).

Thanks!  Maybe they'll go back to the old "built" and "new" lettering.  Then, we can read the built date on models of today's cars!
