Small turntables
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 21, 2003 12:36 PM
What is the smallest "well-style" turntable available for HO? I need a very small turntable for one of my yards for turning the little shunters around and such.
Anthing near 5 inches would be great.

Thnx!

For something that small you're probably going to have to scratchbuild. I'm considering a similar project, for an HOn3 layout which runs only 0-4-0 gypsy and Porter engines--I may build a turntable 2" wide! It will of course have to be scratchbuilt, "gallows" style.

scratch building turntables is easy, especially small ones. you don't really need to do that much precision stuff to build one anyway.

i built mine, it took a few days and i'm well chuffed with myself!

The Altas N scale turntable is 7½", you could build a smaller HO one on top of it........
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California
