I e-mailed Jon Grant privately but I haven't heard from him yet.
I'm thinking about attempting my first sound decoder installation. I was wanting to know if anyone here has installed a Soundtraxx Tsunami into a Proto 2000 0-8-0 switcher? If so, which Soundtraxx speaker did you end up using?
I'm assuming that the proper decoder is the "Light steam" version. Is there anything that I need to watch out for or is it a pretty straighforward installation? Thanks.

Time...It marches on...without ever turning around to see if anyone is even keeping in step.
You should be able to put a least two one inch diameter speakers in that large a tender. I put two one incher in an HO MDC Oldtimer tender.
Use two different types one with more mid-range value and one full range, it provides a better sound with less volume. I have the MDC sound install at:

Mouser has the best range of speakers at:

David & Harold,
Thanks for the responses.
Another question that has come to mind. How is the low end motor response on the Tsunamis? My 0-8-0 switcher has a DH163L0 decoder and crawls very nicely on speed step 001. I would hate to lose that just for the aspect of sound. Thanks!
I have yet to put a Tsunami in a locomotive that it didn't run better. They are great. I have forgot to zero out the throttle and a few minutes latter heard a chuff as it does more than just a creep it slowly went to the next quadrant.
