There are 4 solder tabs, 2 on the ends of each coil.  Connect one from each end on the same side together.  This will be the common connection.  Connect a wire to it.  That leaves 2 solder tabs, one on each coil.  Connect wires to each one.  Applying power between the common connection and one of the other two tabs will cause the switch motor to move the points one way, applying power between the common connection and the other tab will cause it to move the points the other way.  When wiring to your power source, the common wire goes directly to one terminal of the power source.  The other two wires go to the two outside terminals of a single-pole, double throw, center-off MOMENTARY toggle switch.  The centre terminal of the switch goes to the other terminal of the power source.  For runs up to about 5 or 6 feet, #22 wire should be sufficient.  For longer runs, use #18 wire.  As for colours, that's up to you.  I use 3 colours--a dark colour like black or brown for the common wires, one colour for the wires which will move the points to the straight through position and a third colour for the wires which will move the points to the diverging route position.

Hope this helps.
