Not for copyright purposes. The disclaimers usually specifically state (at least in MR) that the purchaser may use the drawings or copies thereof as an aid to commercial modelmaking, and many a commercial product has been derived from such plans. The prohibition against distribution of copies (even for free) is considered a protection of the copyright owner's intellectual property, but you are normally OK to make a copy to prevent the destruction of the magazine while you build a model or design a kit.

If you are looking for a source of drawings, back issues of many magazines are full of them, and are cheap too! I do not know how copyright would apply in this case. Hi Sparkingbolt,

Good point. For those that don't have the software, I can also scan in drawings.
I would truly love to design my own kits, and maybe I will someday. The problem is that I simply don't have the time to take that on now, So for now I am only able to create kits from other's designs.

I could think of lotsa things to build or at least cut with your laser, but most of us probably dont have the programs to send you to run. I dont. I wonder if you could make up some of your own kits, or even freight car conversion parts and see how they do at a swap meet?

I have a CO2 laser engraver and would like to know if there are any folks out there who need laser cut trains, buildings etc.

If you have plans (preferably in Corel Draw, but other vector graphic formats will work), and need things cut from wood, acrylic or other laser cutable material, please give me a shout.
