Wiring turntable for DCC control.

The most common reason decoders get "fried" is a short between the black or red rail wires and the orange or gray motor leads. The command station will not see this and the only indication is that the motor won't run any more. If either motor lead comes in contact with either rail the decoder will instantly die. What burns out is the driver transistors for the motor so functions will usually still work.

My guess is that the truntable motor leads going to the decoder some how came in contact with a rail. Maybe you can use the decoder to control the light in a coach.

I just finished wiring my turntable in accordance with the article Mike wrote in the DCC forum of Novembers MR magazine. I used a Digitrax DH123 decoder.
Upon selecting the "Number" with my Prodigy system, the turntable started to move when the throttle was advanced, then it stopped. I tried again with same result. Never got any short circuit indication.
My turntable and motor are from Diamond scale products and about 8 years old.
Tetsed the decoder on a Loy's toys decoder tester and have no joy with the forward or reverse functions though the light functions do work. I guess I burned the thing up but can't figure out why!
ANY SUGGESTIONS?
