www.tcsdcc.com has lots of installation instructions with pictures. A plug and play decoder should go in easily, because its well... Plug and play!

As far as your loco shells, I'm an HO guy so I cant really help you there.

Good luck

Installing N-Scale decoders
Posted by cccpro on Monday, August 21, 2006 2:36 PM
My Digitarx Zephyr system is up and running.  I had Tony's Trains install decoders in my first group of N-scale loco's.  I have a few more to do and was wondering if there is a good post or source for installing decoders.  My loco's should all handle plug-n-play decoders.  Having a visual or good directions will help the first time thru.  I have had some concern removing the shell from the body - how much pressure etc. can be applied.  Atlas shells seem to come off easily, it is the Katos that are pesky.  Any help would be appreciated.
