I use HO Unitrack on the layout I'm building & really enjoy its advantages.. Have U seen the soon to be released ' Worlds Greatest Hobby Track set'., on the Katousa website?
As far as the Berkshire Division layout, the 21" & 24 " could come in handy on some of the less forgiving [longer] Locos & cars. imachoward

Can't comment on the plan but the fewer joints you have the better it will run. If you are comfortable with flex track in 3' lengths it would reduce the number of track joints astronomically and is the way I would go.

Berkshire Division 4x8 layout, looking for advise

I am planning my first HO scale layout and I really like the Berkshire Division layout that was featured in December 1992 Model Railroader magazine. It is also featured in the Kato HO scale unitrack track brochure. I would appreciate any thoughts, concerns or opinions anyone may have about this track plan. The Kato version is slightly larger than 4x8, which would be fine with me. Would it be advisable to use Kato unitrack for this track plan? As opposed to conventional track as used in the Model Railroad version. I would really like to hear from someone who may have used this track plan for their layout. Thanks.
