Configuring Lionel Fastrack

I am building a layout with limited space using Lionel fastrack. When I run sidings off of the Fastrack switches the closest I can get the siding to the adjacent track is about 3 inches. Does anyone know of a Lionel track section that will get them closer? If not from Lionel, has anyone made their own?
