This is great guys! I was also looking for information on wiring crossing flashers and detection units myself!

A Peter Thorne book ( cant recall the name ) had some simple circuits for grade crossings.

What your needing is two things :

Detection : spaced so far from each side of the crossing, to detect a train

Flasher : once detected, the circuit alternates the lights or LED's.

Others may recall the name of the book, but I remember the circuits were simple and would be easy using a 555 timer chip.

i dont know how to make it but to make it flash when u want to u could have a single pole single throw (SPST) toggle switch mounted on the side and flip it when train is coming

Hello,
Im new to this forum but not to mrr..I am building a new layout that will have operating grade xing signals..I need to know what other parts I neeed for the signals to make them alternately flash(Like the prototypes) and wiring instructions...Can some one help? I have looked at some commercially available books but none specifically addr.crossing signals..I want them to flash only when the trains are occuping the crossing....I look for someone to help me...Thanks for your attention,Danny
