LOL, I knew this would happen. My confidence in Brass and methods of keeping it working well is shattered once again.

I have read a few threads in here from people who swear by their methods with Brass. Have you tried any of them?

It seems that humidity is a big culprit in all of this and I do plan on putting a DE-Humidifier in the train room.

I guess I have started the debate once again, sorry!

Todd:

Don't do it! Its better to wait a bit longer or buy slowly then to use brass. You'll end up making a hobby of cleaning rails than running trains. The oxidation issues in brass far outweigh the 20/30 cent difference you'll save with buying brass!

Have Fun.... Bob.

Brass HO Track Wanted
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, May 26, 2006 8:30 PM
Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to start the framework for my layout. I have grand ideas with a limited budget. The price of new NS track to accomplish what I WILL accomplish astounded me. I am forced to go with brass since it is much cheaper at the moment. I have been accumulating atlas track for the past 6 months but the pace has been very slow. I am having a very difficult time finding Brass flex also.

I'm not looking to debate the advantages/disadvantages of Brass vs NS. I've read some very good articles right in these forums on how to prep Brass track and have it work just fine.

If anyone is looking to rid themselves of Brass please let me know. I can pay a fair price and the shipping costs.

Thanks in advance.

Todd
