Take a look at this website. I have not tried their product as I am not that far along yet but will give it a close look.

Take look at maandg's work (http://magnoliaroute.com/magnolia%20route.htm) with wire. He is using the stuff from berkshire. I'm sold.

Hiya.

Here's another source for flexible thread. I haven't tried it but am tempted. A bit pricey though[:(] Regards,

Isn't e-z line just lycra thread? Sold at sewing stores,Joann Fabrics and the like, but only cheaper?

You could use monofilament fishing line... but it doesn't give and come back... it would pull over the poles. Great for wire fences, really thin. Doesn't hold dust like other materials so doesn't get to look thicker. It can also be used to operate semaphore signal arms as it doesn;t shrink or stretch.

have fun :-)

Here is an interesting idea from someone on another forum, kanekalon, it is a synthetic fiber.

http://www.drlocks.net/cart/silky-straight-kanekalon-braid-p-217.html

It should be thin enough and fairly tough. It also comes in a variety of colors. I will probably try it for my telegraph wires.

Just a thought

If you're not worried about bumping them, regular sewing thread works too. Gray for telephone, gray/black for power, and light green for telegraph lines. Secured with a drop of white glue they can easily be replaced.

I`ve read some where about the Germans and us using Spider Web in the
aiming device of the Submarine Periscope, Just think, wouldn`t be great to
train {pun} a Spider to spin web from post to post leaving behind very fine
simulated wiring on our Layouts, and repair them when & where necessary.
Well, it was just a thought!!
Sorry.

Nurse!! can I have my next fix please, & I`ll be quiet. ;-{

Well I was going to tell you about the strechy stuff that others have mentioned above but they already did. I have not used this stuff yet but my club has a module that uses it and the stuff is great. If it can survive being on a module it should survive a home layout.

Their E-Z Line is an excellent product, which I have employed on my own layout. Its flexibility is great. I have caught the strung lines a couple of times, stretched the way out of alignment, and had them return to position totally without harm. Any other material I can think of would have been destroyed.

I'm not sure of the gauge of the wire, but it's used to wire fuses. Wrap the wire around the insulator on the telephone pole, then secure it with a drop of CA (cyano-acrylate). You can paint the wire a grayish-black.
