Try plain white glue, straight from the bottle. Brush it on, then sprinkle on the ballast. This layer of ballast will give the track some tooth, so that a later application of ballast will stick better. When the ballast is dry, apply some more ballast, then spray with "wet water". Apply diluted white glue. The nice thing about white glue, is that if you need to remove the ballast/track later, all that's required to loosen it back up is to soak it with a spray bottle.

Do you prefer a certain brand of glue, I have the woodlands scenic glue, it seems pretty thick, I thinned the stuff I used in the spray bottle and didn't work too well. If I paint it on the roadbed will it cover the ties? I was told to bru***he cinders on then spray them with the glue. Your idea sounds best. I'll try it on a single track and practice before i actually get it down right.

Try a glue/adhesive and "paint" it onto the roadbed. Then you can apply the ballast. Let it dry, vacuum up the excess, and your set.

Can someone help me, How do you get the ballast to stick to the gray roadbed? I have tried the scenic cement with a spray bottle to no avail. Any ideas that would help me. This is my first time and I thought EZ track would be the way to go. Now I have second thought but have too much invested already. So what next?
