If you can make the rails meet at the same height and align them end-to-end, and if you can make the railbed or ballast look like its all the same along that stretch, you should be fine. The key will be to make the rail tops the same, but most importantly to keep the flange-paths exact. Your trains will hop and possibly derail if you fail to get the insides of both rails perfectly aligned for the flanges.

I will be starting a HO layout that is 12' x 17' with one duck under. I have some "Power-Loc" tracks but thinking of using Code 100 track. With a layout this big what are everyone thoughts of using both Power_loc and Code 100 trck in the same layout????? Good or bad??????
