Alps 3000 sound system

I've just purchased an Alps 3000 sound system on E-bay. I realize that this is a bit of a gamble but I know nothing about the system. Is there anyone out there who is familiar with this system, who can tell me anything about it? What are it's capabilities? What are its limitations? What is the basic concept of opperation?
