wiring problem (lionel)

this may or may not be the right place for it but maybe you all can help.

I have a lionel set up, its the christmas time thing to do. I'm using the TMCC system, I am using the SC-2 (switch/acc unit) two switches are for a loop off the main line the third is for a spur. The maunal says you can use track power to operate the switches. So i wire it up program the switches in and all works fine, track power voltages are set between 14V-18V. When i say i wired it up i took the manual toggle switches off the switch it self and moved them to a terminal board along with all the other wiring for the switches so i have two ways to throw the switches (so the the kids to use also). Now i place the engines and everything on the track good to go right? , wrong, switch one will not switch with the remote or the toggle, switch 2 and 3 work fine. All worked fine 2 minutes ago now failure, i did have a few runs with everything on the track. When i try and switch, switch 1 it sticks like the relay won't drop out to the other position. So i switch out the wires on sw 1 and sw 3 same thing but now sw 1 won't work at all and sw 3 has the same problems sw 1 did. So is the SC-2 unit bad, is my wiring wrong, do i need a seperate power sorce for the switches, sw 1 is now shot i did try it with out anything else again and won't switch at all (60 bucks down the drain), I know i messed up somewhere but where?

Any feedback is helpful, sidenote i've wired up whole N and Ho layouts and they weren't this much of a pain in the butt. I had to of missed something here.

thanks in advance
