Atlas Code 83 Turnouts vs Athearn Tunnel Motors
Posted by robbykuczynski on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 9:40 AM
Have any of you forum memebers experienced this or a similar problem?

My new Athearn SD45T-2's are having difficultties with the new Atlas Code 83 #6' and #8's. The units sieze up as they pull through the diverging track to the main line, creating some kind of a clicking noise. Any idea what might be happening? Any suggestions to remedy this?

Check the wheel gauge with an NMRA gauge. Every loco and car wheelset that had problems with my Atlas Code 83 proved to have too tight a gauge (wheels were too close together). Athearn wheelsets are easy to slide in and out to reach the correct setting.
