Woodland Scenic Risers / Unitrack Follow up Question

Well I decided to pull up my Unitrack which I had glued down too tightly, in order to level off the joints and add more power feeders. Most came off well, though some of the thinner parts of the risers need patching. Here's the question : Before I re lay the track should I put plaster strips or something similar over the Woodland Scenic Risers in order to cover the gaps in the foam. I hadn't done that at first and thought I painted myself in a corner because it would have been harder with the track laid. But since it's up now, is this a good time to cover and smooth over the risers ? And are plaster strips the best way to go ? Thanks, BTW it's a double track main in "N" Dave
