I used this method as a tunnel portal on one of my mountians. I put a coat of plaster on the tiles then use thin washes of color to stain the rocks. If I can find a picture I'll post it.

I built my mountain out of ceiling tiles too. Before I painted it with a light gray latex based paint, I used a wire bru***o take the real hard edges off. Then I colored the rock face with acrylic paint for the details. Looks really good in my opinion and have had great comments from all who have visited "Uranium Flats"

To get rid of the fuzz on mine I painted with a coat of kilz latex primer. this also gave a good base for painting.

O.K. first of all if this has been asked before sorry.............just made my first formation and here is what ive done...........Took a tile and cut it into strips........broke one edge of the strips and did the saame with all other strips........seven in all .............took a wire bru***o the broken edges........hot glued the layers together and brushed it one more time......outside due to the fine dust ,had neighbours asking what cha dooin so i explained and gave the visulation that Im going for and everyone said it look great........any way here is the deal.............the face is still kinda fuzzy looking.........kept brushing it and no mater what Ive done the darn thing still has that fuzzy look..........how do I eliminate this...........part two.......how do I go about painting ? do i need to do a sealcoat of white glue or what kinda lost here any help will be greatly aperiatiated.............thanks in advance J.W.
