Terrains for Trains

I am wondering if anyone has had experience with these pre molded kits. I like the plan for the one called Timber Ridge but I'm wondering if $549.00 at Internet Trains web site is worth it. Further I wonder if this track plan is found in a book somewhere. I would actually rather build it from scratch.

Try searching Atlas' web sit for a 'Track-Pack' for this layout. I know they have specific track packs for the Woodland Scenics "layouts-in-a-box" (is this one of those it sounds like it is?)

Thanks UK. There is a track pack available, but it appears it is made exclusively for this company (Terrains for Trains). It does show the track schematic but no other detail. The link to the page that shows this plan is: http://www.internettrains.com/tefortrhosct.html Someone may recognize the plan.

Well looking at the "track plan & materials" link on that page it gives you all the track/bridge items you would need to build it from scratch (which is also what I would rather do) all you would need to do then is buy a base for it and create your own scenery from scratch however you like.

A good thread to read up on scenery is below, this goes through building scenery stage by stage and is a very good/essential read by one of the masters here on the forum, its also interactive so it will familiarise you with som of the other members names/layouts, I recomend reading it highly.
It looks like a good layout to scratchbuild and use as a learning experience and practice your skills on.

Although the track pack is made as a whole unit for TforT you could easily order all the individual items from Internettrains (which is a good online supplier, myself and many others here use them often with success), the list even gives you all the part numbers to make it easy for you to do this. I guess you would need to use the layout photos as a reference for details.

oops forgot top put the link on http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=32122

Have fun & be safe,
Karl.
