I personally didn't go this route because I didn't here about it soon enough. But if I was to start over, I would seriosly consider it.

Turnout kits
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 23, 2005 12:20 AM
Years ago I was able to buy turnout kits. I would hand spike the rails to the ties and the cost was about 1/4 that of the assembled ones and they looked much more realistic. Does anyone know of a source for such kits today? Thanks Mike
