Digitrax or Con-Cor? The DCC Zephyr or the Burlington Zephyr? I saw an announcement that the Burlington Zephyr from Con-Cor is now being shipped by Walthers.

He's kidding, Chip. We know you got the Digitrax controller. Now you and Randy can swap steamy stories about CVs.

I'm happy for you.

Your life has changed forever. I don't know how I ever lived with DC. And I'm only into this for 2 weeks.

Don't waste your time or money with the original Prodigy. It's too limited for modern sound locomotives. Limited CV programmability, and of course all your locos end up being addresses 1-32, not something easy to use like the actual road number.
Prodigy Advanced does not have these same limitations. Neither does the Zephyr or one of the full-featured sets from Lenz, NCE, or Digitrax.

Chip, Like MisterBeasley, I will never foget the GRINS i got when I first began operating my Zephyr. The biggest grin of all was my first head-on collision (slow speed thankfully -- not paying attention). Laughed out load cuz' you just couldn't do that in DC!!
Cheese3 -- yes, I highly recommend the Zephyr.

I've had good experieinces with all the layouts that had Digitrax. This is every model railroad I've ever run. So I have never used anything else. My path was dictated by my club and by the fact that they had a deal with a digitrax dealer. I saved about $8 but had to wait 8 weeks to get it.

Would I recommend it. Based on what I've seen and what I've read. Yes.
The only problem I have is that on the UT-1 control if you unaquire a moving loco, it is really tough to reaquire. My son has a habit of doing that. luckily, now that I have a DT400, I can "steal" the runaway and stop it. then the UT one can pick it up again.

Nope... I don't have a life either! [:D]
My wife has just been trying to work me to death around here AND I'm rethinking that mountain on my layout and wondering if I should remove it.
Hey, enough of that awready. Congrats on the Zephyr!

JXTRRX.. I found out that yes, you can cause head-on collisions in DC. I rewired an F7A locomotive for constant intensity lighting and got the trucks reversed. First time I tried set it on the track to check for speed matching it to the B-unit.. CLANG!!! No major damage (had to reattach MU hoses)... And thanks spacemouse... now, you've got me thinking about DCC... Hmmmm Christmas is only five months away....

Hey Chip, you might want to check out Youngwood's, http://www.ywdmodeltrains.com/ He's out in your neck of the woods, and I have NEVER seen lower Digitrax and NCE prices. Even adding tax he's lower than the rest. I don't know the guy, haven't bought anything there yet, but will soon. One of the guys from The Model RR Club in New Jersey buys most of his stuff from Jim.

Jarrell, you sound like a candidate for our group. Welcome to the Fraternal Order of the Mules.

Mules are beasts of burden. We work all day because if we don't work, we are beaten. And when we are home at night and on weekends we work. Because if we don't work, we are beaten.

Welcome aboard, brother Mule!

Randy,

I knew about them and still paid $150 for my Zephyr to help the club.

I got my Zephyr over a year ago and love it. I have since added a booster, a DT400 and IR, but the Zephyr is still my mainstay and acts as the command station as well as a great static controller for the main yard.
