Fast Track to O27 ?
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, July 15, 2005 9:16 AM
I just purchased my son his 1st electric train. I started him with a Lionel Thomas set and it comes with a 36" oval made up of Fast Track. Due to space contraints it seems the only way to expand the basic oval is to expand inward.
My question is can I add an O27 oval inside of the O36 ? It seems the track hieght is different by a 1/4 inch and also the pins dont match. Is there an adapter that exists to connect O27 and FasTrack together ? I know I can shim the track itself to make up for the hieght, but the electrical connecting pins is where it seems the problems arise.
Thanks in advance !

Puma,

You might have better luck getting a response on the Classic Toy Trains forum. This one is scale stuff, mostly HO and N. The guys at the other forum are more knowledgeable about Lionel.

Good Luck,

word out is there are adapters available, or will be soon. 027 will fit inside 036 but manufacturers sometimes don't think things through, and leave other problems for you to work out.

take notice that the 027 track system is more complete at this time, and the price is affordable. buy lots of it so your son can course it through every room in the house.
