*N* scale: Remote uncoupling?
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 6:23 AM
Hi!

I came across a site, that describes how to build an
electromagnetic uncoupler for N scale.

http://aglasshalffull.org/article-uncouplers.html

The only problem I see with that is, that the trip pins have to be bend in order
for this to work. Scary..

I do have MTL uncoupler magnets that go in between the rails, but I'm not
to pleased with the look or the incidential uncoupling they can cause.

I looked at the only'N'dcc uncouplng (http://www.onlyndcc.com/), but that is
a rather pricy solution.

Are there any other remote solutions out there, short of having a magnet on
a hinge and pulling it up and down with a cable? (shudder..)

Thanks!

I thought Micro Trains/Kadee made a under the table uncoupler magnet that used a push button switch? I do believe they mount under the track similar to the GlassHalfFull web site.

Kyle,
Here's a link to what Dthurman was describing:

Note that Kadee makes it for HO. I don't know if it can be "fudged" for N.
