Usually the ties will slide along the rails and you can just pu***hem back a little to get a rail joiner on. That's what I do. If your flex track ties won't slide then you'll have to flip it over and cut the webbing on the back to remove a tie at the end. BTW you should add a tie under the joiner. Sand it down a little to allow for the joiner and not get a bump in the track.
Enjoy

Turn the flextrack over and use an X-Acto knife to cut off the last tie on each end. Save those ties that you cut out. Use rail joiners to connect the track.

Now, take those ties and your X-Acto knife and trim off the "spikes" castings, and create a very narrow channel under where the track will sit--this will allow you to place the tie back under the track and rail joiner so the track looks good but it does not interfere with the joiner or create a bulge. Normally it's a good idea to glue this extra tie into place.

I have read many questions and comments on here and now have the need to ask a question. I am about embarrased to ask this but here it goes. I am building a ho lay out and am using 12 sections of flex track in the layout. There is other track but the issue deals with the flex track. I am using flex in a straight away placement and cannot figure how to add the rail joiners to the track. There is little to no room on the ends to add joiners so my need for HELP. Thanking you in advance GENE
