You need to get MT1015 couplers. The rapido coupler is held to the body by a plastic clip, right behind the footboards. Turn the locomotive upside down, and
gently
pry the clip out with a small screwdriver. IIRC, there is a small metal strip that serves as a spring for rapido coupler, discard this metal strip. (Keep the clip.) Turn the assembled 1015 coupler upside down and carefully slip the coupler through the coupler hole. When the coupler is in place, snap the clip back into place. Most of the more recent Life-Like, Atlas, and Kato road switchers can be converted the same way.
I hope this helps.
If you don't already have it, get the Micro-Trains coupler manual. It has most of the information you need to convert just about any piece of equipment, including a more detailed description of the conversion I described.

Looking to convert a Life LIke SD7/9 in N scale to Micro Trains couplers and not sure how to do it. I know there are conversion kits for some engines, but didn't see this one listed in the Walthers catalog. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks. Ben
