Snapper and MRC Dualpack
Posted by MichaelWD on Monday, March 28, 2005 11:20 AM
Hello again, I need help with hooking up a curcuitron snapper (Cap. discharge system). I need to know how to hook up to the MRC dualpack. Included in the snapper is a limiting resistor. The resistor is to be used if the power is 1 Amp or greater. There are 8 screw terminal on the side. 2 for #1 controller, 2 for the #2 controller, 2 for accessories, and 2 for fixed DC. Does it matter which way the snapper is hook up? There are no markings for +/- Thanks Mike Dickinson

Part #2
The 4 sets of terminals are listed as- control #1 12 vdc variable - 15VAC fixed total output 8VA
Control #2 12VDC variable-12VDC fixed total output 8VA
None of the terminals are marked as + or -
I also have available a 20Volt DC power supply that could be dropped down to 12 or 16 volts.

It connects to the terminals marked "AC Accessories"

I once built a similar circuit for my N scale layout way back when, and just connected it to the old power pack's AC terminals, but it was one of those small train set packs so likely less than 1 amp output, so I used no extra resistors. It won't hurt to put the resistor in the circuit however. Since the input is AC, there's no polarity, so either terminal of the Snapper can go to either terminal ont he power pack.
