Chuck,

You hit the nail on the head. Hopefully MRC will back the system unlike the original prodigy. Looks like they have a winner.
If you ain't having fun, you're not doing it right and if you are having fun, don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong.

After seeing a couple of other sets that were purchased by friends I decided to get one also. Right now I have the Atlas DCC and planned on upgrading to the Lenz 100. The MRC was about $100 less than the Lenz and will do almost everything that I want. The only draw back I have with this system is that it will not control a non decoder engine. For now I'm using my Atlas system for them. Either I will have put decoders in the engines or give up on them. As long as MRC backs the system it should be well worth it. Good luck on what ever you decide.

hello canazar, i purchased myne about 3 months ago. my layout is not finished yet, but i have been able to operate some in the yards and i have to say.... i love it. i also purchased an additional hand held controller for it for only $65.00, compared to some of the other manufacturers $100.00 plus. i have nothing but good stuff to say about the new Prodigy Advance system, and i would recomend it to anyone. good luck!

I bought mine in December, and it is great! It's easy and have many functions that systems the same price don't have. I love the handheld and the LCD display layout and fonts. Very friendly user, so easy the main functions fit at the back of the handheld! Everything can be done by a max of three key pressings. One thing that I don't like, is that it doesn't have the capability for wireless cabs. The LCD should have a light for night ops. For reading decoders you must place the locos at the program track.. I like it much better that the zephyr, and I had both on my hands for testing.

I have had mine for about 4 months and love it! The features are great and the price was terrific! One thing I would advise for newcomers to DCC is to get on the Digitrax website and download their free Mobile Decoder Manual. Then you will have all the information on CV's that you can program on the main with the Prodigy Advance. The only thing that is difficult is programming BLI engines on the programming track. That is because the sound system draws so much current there is too little voltage left for programming. That is only on the programming track, it works great programming on the main. (the programming track has lower voltage so you don't accidentally fry your decoder)

I've been watching for news on this one too. I especially like the oversized display and the logical layout of the control buttons.

Canazar,

I haven't purchased it yet, but this is my first choice. I down loaded the manual and have read it backwards and forwards. It is very straight forward and I can't beat the cost for what you get. Tony's Train Exchange has had some bulletins concerning the Prodigy Advanced that are worth reading. Like anything thats new, it had a few ghosts in the machine, but MRC has fixed them. Hope this helps.
