Yay! Got my OTHER P2K tank car completed
Posted by rrinker on Saturday, March 19, 2005 1:33 PM
The one I started a long time ago, and then gave up, breaking too many of the fine grabs when attempting to cut them from the sprues. The other week I picked up another one at the LHS, and managed to get that one together in about 4 hours, no broken parts. So after lunch today I decided to see if I could complete the old one. I had enough spare parts left over from the good one that I had enough grabs to replace the broken pieces, and now I have TWO steam-era type 103 tank cars, one 8k gallons and one 10k gallons.
Now I'm looking for more, there's at least 3 more road numbers in each of the two I have that would work for me.

Gratz Randy. When I'm working with all those small parts my fingers turn into thumbs![:p]

Tweezers are your friend. I can't even pick up some of those parts if they are flat on the table with my fingers. I'm not a small guy.

"rub it in, rub it in..."

Good for you, Randy. [^] Good luck with the other tanker(s).

BTW, I just covered over my water channel and lake with plaster and wood filler. If I can ever get it to dry in my damp basement (dehumidifier is going all day), I will paint it and cover with epoxy. (Gulp) I hope this all turns out.

Way to go, Randy! It's very gratifying to be able to "salvage" a kit from existing parts. I like the fact that P2K gives you a few extras, just in case.

Not only are tweezers your friend, they come in several varieties: needle-nose, flat-nose, and tension. The first two I use the most.
