I will be modeling the mountain with lots of bridges and tunnels. Do most of you guys scratch build your bridges or buy them from someone?

Well, I will speak for myself; I used kits over 'big' water, and scratchbuilt trestles over gorges with rock or skree underneath on my one big mine spur. Those with advanced skills and determination (and skads of time) will derive a great deal of satisfaction from building realistic girder bridges from scratch, but I am not one of them.
So, I mix it up and get to run trains more. Wahoo!

I scratch build my bridges using plastruct and evergreen styrene, hand lay the track across the bridge, but use kit parts for deck or truss girders..Kalmbach has a publication titled: "Bridges and Trestles" which you may want to make an investment into...the book has plans and parts lists for just about every railroad bridge imaginable..Chuck
