As promised - As you can see , I also did cut outs in the 1x4s to also cut down on the weight and also a good place to route wire to keep it up out of the way. A little history - when I saw Malcohm Furlows small HO urban railroad featured in MR Magazine, it blew me away. This railroad (which I am calling the RIVER RAT RR) is a take off on that one. Its some what larger but will also have two yards, one on each end and continuous running with a modified double track mainlline. Its the smallest layout I could design with continous running and still keep the curve radius decent.
