Power feeds around turnouts

I need to install power feeds in a yard area. Before I do , I recall a post that said something to the effect of when wiring power at a turnout Always / Never ? wire from the point side etc. I can recall which it was, and I can't find the post. Can someone please fill me in here. Talking DC wiring not DCC. And I don't mean power to the switch machine, but just rules for power before or after a turnout. I hope this makes sense to someone. Actually, rules are the same for DC as DCC. If the switch has a live frog, you need gaps on the frog side - no power can enter from the frog side or you will have a short - look into the frog side and imagine both rails are + to the right, - on the left. At the frog, a + and - will touch, that's a short. Live frog = power ONLY from the point end.
With insulated frogs, it does not matter. I am using Atlas turnouts which have insulated frogs. Frogs will be powered by contacts on the Tortoise machines, and I put power feeds on all three legs for reliability.
