New Layout Books?
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 5, 2005 7:35 PM
I'm just starting my first "real" layout and I was wondering if there are any really helpful books (simple, details ect.) on layouts, start to finish? I'm looking at maybe a 5'X9' or so HO scale. I want to have a small swithing yard on one side, but also be able to run them on outside loop(s). DCC, wiring, type of track...? HELP !!
Thanks

Kalmbach has a bunch of helpful books, Atlas has a free track planning download. However, as I posted along with others, the Atlas track planning download may be hard to navigate.
Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

First let me welcome you to the forums and the great world of model railroading.[:D]
Look around and try to find a copy of "Six HO Model Railroads You Can Build" by Atlas. This book has everything you need to have and get to build it right the first time. Follow the instructions and your RR will be running in less than a year, if not sooner. Have fun and enjoy. DCC will work with all of them if they have updated the book and if not you won't have any trouble figuring it out for yourself. That's why DCC is so easy.

Ain't it great!!!
